Helen Sofia Medina

Sofia is a bilingual language educator and interpreter with a strong passion for cultural exchange, and student-centered learning. With a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages and a minor on Business Translation she has been able to teach diverse ages, levels, and professional backgrounds in both English and Spanish.

Her teaching experience ranges from working with children through creative, activity-based lessons to guiding teenagers and adults in structured academic and conversational programs. She has experience designing engaging, interactive lessons that develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while adapting methodologies to each learner’s goals and learning style.

In addition to teaching, she has several years of experience as a professional interpreter in educational and healthcare environments, facilitating clear communication between families, educators, and medical staff. This background has strengthened her cultural awareness, empathy, and precision in language use.

She is recognized as adaptable, analytical, and highly organized, with a natural ability to build trust and motivate learners. Her goal is to help students gain confidence and independence in real-world communication while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

She is currently studying a master's degree in education with specialization in ESL and ELE at Kansas State University which is set to culminate in 2027.
